Welcome to RutWear Non-Typical Gear
Your heart is about to explode out of your chest. You can hear the unmistakable crashing of hooves behind you. You've worked hard for this moment. Hours upon hours of scouting, hanging stands, and waiting... and waiting. The footsteps are getting closer. Breathe.
Because of the fresh signs you found just two days before, you've gotten about as much sleep as a kid on Christmas Eve. There were good bucks in the area but this one was different. His tracks were massive and he has been rubbing trees the size of your thigh. Could this be the one? Could this be the trophy buck you've dreamed about your entire life? The one you've saved a place for above the mantle? Breathe.
The crunching of dried leaves and twigs has stopped. You've cut your eyes but to no avail. Do you risk moving your head? Is he looking right at you? Your heart can't take it anymore. You slowly turn your head toward the last place you heard the noise. Your fingertips are eager to draw back the the already notched arrow. There, standing within striking distance is... a big... beautiful... doe. Breathe.
Your heart is still beating a million miles an hour and your brain is swimming with emotions, upset that it wasn't "the one" and in a weird way, relief that you wouldn't have to take that shot you've been practicing for months on the foam block in your back yard. Now your heart rate begins to slow down as you enjoy being in the presence of this beautiful animal.
You study her every move as she nervously crosses in front of you, gazing back from where she had just come. But what is she looking at? You cut your eyes back. Your heart begins to beat so hard and fast that it's as if someone is playing a million bass drums in your ears and everything goes dark in your peripheral from tunnel vision. It's him! Massive rack, drop tines, the biggest deer you've ever seen. One gasp of air, no breathing this time.
This is the moment you've been preparing for. The culmination of all your hard work, diligence, and perseverance. 30 yards and closing. He is totally oblivious to your presence as he is in full rut. You go into full draw. The drums have gotten faster. 20 yards in front and broadside. More drums. You find just enough air to hit the grunt call attached to your jacket. He stops. You release. Thud! Breathe.
As a deer hunter this is what we live for. Whether with a bow, black powder, or high powered rifle, the rush and anticipation is just the same.
All the hard work and preparation to get to that point is the same. We believe all the hard work and preparation doesn't stop at the field either.
That is why we developed RutWear. All the hard work and energy you've put into the stand you climb into, we've put into the clothes and accessories you climb into. That's what it's all about for us.
Happy Hunting,
